Start by...

Introduce the session by providing an overview of the session objectives. Explain the importance of social media in raising awareness and creating support of a campaign.

Icebreaker Activity: "Social Media Favorites"

  • Ask learners to share their favorite social media platforms and why they enjoy using them.
  • Facilitate a brief discussion on the role of social media in their daily lives and its potential for social change.

Research 
  • Use the presentation to showcase examples of successful social media campaigns.
  • Discuss key elements such as interesting messaging, visual design, audience engagement tactics, and measurable impact.
  • Encourage learners to take notes of the things they like and identify strategies that could be adapted for their own campaign
Brainstorm
  • Divide learners into small groups and provide each group with a set of guiding questions (see handout).
  • Facilitate a brainstorming session to define the campaign's goals, target audience, messaging themes, and desired outcomes.
  • Encourage groups to consider the unique needs and preferences of their target audience and how to tailor the campaign accordingly.
  • Bring everyone back as a large group and have each group share their ideas and insights.
