A discussion about the steps an active bystander could take to help their friend.
Intro
Instructions
Listen to Lisa's story and then bring the group together in a circle to discuss the following questions.
STEP UP: You can take direct action. If you decide to step up and say something, how would you do it?
PULL ATTENTION AWAY: You can distract the person by offering to do something that takes their mind off whatever they are doing that is risky. What ideas could you use to pull the attention away of an anxious friend?
TELL AN ADULT: You can ask someone else to lend a hand or deal with the situation for you. Who do you think you would ask and what might you ask them to do?
Evidence: You can make a note of instances to see if there is a pattern. What things might you note down?
Support Later: Even if the person gives up knife carrying, or other risky behaviour - how can you help prevent it from occurring again?
