The National delivery team were approached by Scottish Sports Futures who were keen to work in partnership with ourselves to develop a resource covering the issues of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.

This resource was developed by the National Delivery team in order for it to be implemented into their primary school programme. This primary programme aims to educate young people on 4 key issues, healthy eating, smoking, drugs & alcohol and Knife crime. There are workshops delivered by professional Basketball players from the Glasgow Rocks Basketball team.

The NKBL input was piloted on 29th January at Chirnsyde Primary School in Glasgow. Young people were treated to an hour of Basketball coaching and then took part in the education sessions.

So far the programme has been delivered to 10 primary Schools across the city. Jump2it as a programme has been extremely well received and NKBL has been incorporated into their plans moving forward.

To celebrate the work done over the years Jump2it held an event in March at the Emirates arena in which 847 pupils were invited to take part in a tournament.

The day was high paced and actioned packed, as part of the event, Young people were asked to note what they had learned from the sessions, which highlighted that messages delivered in the NKBL sessions had been retained.
